L.A. Lady... Seamstress for the band.
I'd love to say that I collected the snippets and shreds of denim that I'm using to create my Blue Jean Baby necklace while on tour with Elton in the 70's. But, I didn't.
Instead, I bought a huge ball of shredded, ripped and torn, aged blue jeans that were rolled up into a large, honeydew sized, ball. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out where I got it and what to do with it. I know that it's been at least 10+ years since I bought it. Of course, I found it tucked away in the back of a drawer.
So, I pushed it around for awhile and then started to play with it. I tried adding snippets of it in to different designs and it just didn't look right.
And then, voilà! It hit me. How about making these into a necklace, or bracelet?
Each necklace includes shreds of aged denim that I've hand tied together. It's a spectacular display of hand stitched earthy texture and coziness. It just feels right when worn.
About 17"-20" in length, including the little tails. Finished with an on u rva sterling silver button.
Like a pair of your favorite blue jeans, you'll just never want to take it off!
But keep in mind, I don't recommend wearing it all of the time, or getting it wet, because it will fade and fray.
